Jersey’s Chief Probation Officer attends European conference in Brussels

The Chief Probation Officer of Jersey, Mr Brian Heath MBE, visited Brussels for a Board meeting on 15 November 2017 of the Confederation of European Probation (CEP).  CEP is the only Europe wide probation organisation. It aims to promote the social inclusion of offenders through community sanctions and measures such as probation, community service, mediation and conciliation. CEP also aims to enhance the profile of probation and to improve professionalism in this field, on a national and a European level. After the CEP Board meeting Mr Heath was joined by a colleague, Maurilia Veloso, at the biannual Conference for Directors General of Probation, held on 15-17 November. Ms Veloso gave a presentation on her experience of qualifying as a Jersey Probation Officer through blended e-learning and placements in Jersey, Scotland and Madeira.
