Guernsey and Jersey make announcements about fishing licences under the UK/EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA)

Guernsey and Jersey have today made separate announcements regarding the issuing of fishing licences to qualifying EU vessels under the UK/EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA).

The Government of Guernsey published a road map for the issuing of TCA licences which will take effect from 1 February 2022. The current interim authorisation will be extended for all vessels on a monthly basis until 31 January 2022 to provide certainty and stability in the meantime.

The Government of Jersey has confirmed that it will issue 64 full TCA licences and 31 temporary licences. This is in addition to the 47 vessels already licensed earlier this year. The temporary licences are valid until 31 January 2022 and give more time for some additional evidence to be provided to demonstrate a track record of fishing activity, as required by the TCA.
