HERITAGE & CREATIVITY

The Islands have vibrant creative industries producing high-quality work, often – but not exclusively – inspired by the character of the Islands. Jersey and Guernsey artists involved in the full range of creative sectors, from music to poetry, painting and filmmaking. Both Islands hold a wide range of events and are supported by excellent organisations.

Given their Norman heritage, some islanders continue to speak Guernesiais and Jèrriais, and significant efforts are being made in both Islands to ensure the regeneration of these minority languages, whilst the predominant language remains English.

Both Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney host annual Battle of Flowers festivals – some of the largest floral carnivals in Europe with parades bringing an eclectic mix of floats, dancers and performers together.
